Design in the Desert

One of our favorite new floral trends this wedding season comes in the unlikely form of Cortaderia selloana, commonly known as Pampas grass.

Pampas grass is an earth-tone floral piece that couple’s are using this year to elevate their design, with a desire to move away from the traditional eucalyptus and branch-style foliage we are used to seeing..

While Pampas grass has made its way onto the invasive weed list in two American states (due to its ability to completely take over an area) and is even banned in some countries, it is proving to be popular with couples and florists in a multitude of ways. With its voluminous appearance and dramatic effect it can really make an impactful statement without using a lot of it.

Instead of the traditional and tried floral arrangements, envision a striking and beautiful aisle layout that has a more dazzling alternative to the customary ceremony set-up.

Pampas grass certainly adds a luxury feel with a modern twist. Its body is bold, but also soft and romantic. It creates a light and airy feel, and when paired with pretty in pink blush tones, or even deep maroon florals…Just imagine how swoon-worthy that could be.

Now, you ask how do we see pampas grass being used? When looking for the perfect way to showcase its beauty and elegance we came across a Palm Springs editorial that truly captured its charm and grace by Stylish Details.

Enjoy,
