The older I get, the more I realize the importance of momentous events in both my life and those around me. I receive so much gratification knowing that every few years there will be celebratory milestones to plan for. In an age where being busy is a familiar lifestyle, intimate events will always be a place for friends and family to gather.
After three years of summers filled with weddings of my closest loved ones, it has become evident that my inner circle is just about married, leaving me very few opportunities to be a wedding guest. Before I became too frantic at the thought of waiting 30 years for my own children’s weddings, we received a call from a woman interested in planning an unbelievable, yet intimate, 50th birthday celebration for her son. She wanted a polished menu (even more dessert!), a formal dinner, but room for her grandchildren to run comfortably. Lastly, she wanted a photographer to capture the evening and take family portraits that had been long overdue.
Aha! I thought, there doesn’t need to be a wedding to celebrate! Suddenly the door opened and I started to think of the next stage of milestones to come: baby showers, birthday celebrations, holiday events and anniversaries! The list is endless. And I have to admit, planning this birthday celebration was such a fun and refreshing break from a summer filled with weddings.
Needless to say we were thrilled at the opportunity to plan John’s 50th birthday celebration and bring on a team of excellent vendors to help! What a perfect evening to celebrate family, milestones and growing another year older together.
