Change of Heart: Let’s Elope

As a Planner, very few things come as a surprise when it comes to love. Why? Because there is no right or wrong way to love, no book written to provide us the rules, to prepare us for the emotions we experience through different times in our lives or just how we may decide to say ‘I do’ to our soulmate.

‘How’ can be so much more challenging than many know. When the proposal happens and you begin the process of wedding planning, mixed emotions surface and sometimes what you know feels right in your heart, can quickly be trumped by other’s opinions and soon you find yourself surrounded by someone else’s vision or idea that strays far from your own.

Those emotions were very evident as we went through the planning process with our sweet couple. What began as a destination wedding in Hawaii, turned black tie in Portland, soon became one of the most emotional elopements I have ever had the privilege of witnessing.

A ceremony beautifully designed by Kim of Swoon Floral Design using the backdrop of their own backyard, they exchanged vows in front of their parents and his son and made their way to an intimate candlelit dinner for seven, catered by Chef Lena of Lena’s Kitchen Blog.

Stories of childhood traveled around the table with so much laughter among each other, as they discovered how ending up at this very table was exactly where they were meant to be.

Couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to plan moments like these in people’s lives. Moments that consist of no right or wrong way, but the way that means the most to you.

Love,

Kelsey
