Oh, Canada!

There’s an air of excitement when planning a wedding, but there’s an extra special feeling that accompanies a Destination Wedding. The team at Kelsey Timberlake Events just wrapped up the first of many visits to our neighbors up north, Canada! We headed to Victoria, the capital of British Columbia. Located on Vancouver Island, Victoria’s British influences are on full display, from the Parliament Building to the magnificent Butchart Gardens. But outside the city, one of the Pacific Northwest’s natural wonderlands awaits. Coastal and Marine landscapes are backdropped by lush forest and greenery, offering a marvelous backdrop for any wedding.

Although it may appear we were on vacation, within an hour of landing in Victoria, we were off to our first meeting with Toque Catering. Toque specializes in highlighting the abundance of local ingredients while making sure that every event is custom-tailored to their client’s. You can imagine, after leaving a food and beverage meeting, our own appetite kicked in and we decided to take a walk where we discovered The Seahorse Café. Nestled on top of the water overlooking Brentwood Bay, making for great views while enjoying amazing seafood. Be sure to try the salmon, you won’t regret it.

The Brentwood Bay area is located north of the city center.  It is a quaint town offering much calmer environments than the city of Victoria for a different experience.  We could not have felt more at home than at the Brentwood Bay Resort. Be sure to head to Sea Cider, a cider house serving some tasty cider in a picturesque and cozy apple orchard. Our favorite was the Ruby Rose, part of their Canadian Invasion Series. Japanese restaurant, Nubo, and The Local, a pub-style restaurant lined with beautiful flower arrangements, were very popular with the locals and always had long lines. Be sure to cap off your visit with a stop at Red Fish Blue Fish, an outdoor waterfront food-cart style eatery right on the pier in Victoria’s Harbor.  We tried their most popular item menu, the fish and chips, and it was well worth the wait!

We ended an action-packed work week with Prince of Whales touring many of the Canadian islands by speedboat and we couldn’t have asked for a more special send-off. Our first site visit for our clients 2020 wedding is in the books and we can’t wait to share more with you soon!

Enjoy,

Alexia
