It feels surreal to be writing this blog, and after having a couple of months to let it really soak in, I couldn’t be more excited to share our story with you.
It was barely 6:00 in the morning on Saturday, June 26th when I started to wake because J.R. was tossing and turning. At that moment, I vaguely remember waking up in the wee hours of the night because he was moving about the kitchen, and I was confident he was feeling under the weather. He continued to toss and turn for a couple of minutes, and I shut my eyes to try and get a bit more rest as it was a workday for me, and I’d be heading out the door in a couple of hours.
As I shut my eyes, he began tapping me on the shoulder, and I could feel him shaking a bit. Convinced he was not feeling well, I turned over, quite irritated if I am being honest (oops!), and there it was: THE RING. I sprang up, freaked out, didn’t know what to say or do, and he asked me to marry him.
It was one of the best moments of my life.
This may shock some people, but I don’t believe in love at first sight. I do believe love is powerful, and that when you meet your person, you know something feels different than any of your prior experiences, and that was J.R. for me.
I am so excited to continue our journey together, plan our wedding, start our family, and always let love guide us no matter where this life takes us. Cheers to all of the newly engaged. I am so excited to walk with you in this season of life.
